Check out the latest upcoming and ongoing road projects in Pearland.
Upcoming projects
Intersection improvements at Pearland Parkway and Barry Rose
Project: Dual left-turn lanes and dedicated right-turn lanes will be installed to increase traffic capacity and improve the intersection.
Update: The project’s design documents have been submitted for a community development permit and approval from the Texas Department of Transportation.
Median landscaping on Kingsley Drive and Kirby Drive
Project: Kirby Drive was built by the developer and expanded by the city, but due to limited funding, the city only expanded the roadway. Kingsley Drive was built by the county, and landscaping was not included. The project will address landscaping, and both medians will include trees, plants and irrigation to bring them to city standards.
Update: The project is currently in the design phase with construction slated to begin in December.
Traffic signal at Kingsley Drive and Southern Trails Drive
Project: A new traffic signal will be added to the Kingsley Drive and Southern Trails Drive intersection, which is under the shared jurisdiction of Pearland and Brazoria County. The design plan will include the proposed decorative traffic signal, signal cabinets, detection equipment, pedestrian signals and other relevant components.
Update: The project is currently in its design phase as of mid-February with construction slated to start in mid-December.
Hughes Road expansion
Project: Hughes Road is identified as a secondary thoroughfare in the city’s thoroughfare plan, and the Riverstone Ranch development has added many homes to the area. The project will expand Hughes Road from Pearland Parkway to the city limits to widen the existing 2-lane roadway to a 4-lane boulevard section. The project will also include relocating a portion of the city's sanitary sewer force main for the installation of a second bridge.
Update: The city has received 90% of the design submittals and provided comments back to the consultant.
Ongoing projects
Intersection improvements at Pearland Parkway and Broadway Street
Project: Development in the city has caused changes to traffic patterns and counts, resulting in intersections having greater traffic flows than they were originally constructed to handle. The project includes installing traffic signal mast poles and mast arms, widening the roadway and constructing new sidewalks and pavement at the intersection.
Update: Construction is ongoing with work continuing on traffic signal infrastructure and corridor improvements to enhance traffic operations.
Intersection improvements in Shadow Creek Ranch
Project: Intersection improvements will be made to help reduce traffic congestion through business and residential areas of Shadow Creek Ranch. Improvements include adding left and right turn lanes at various intersections, two new traffic signals at Memorial Hermann and Business Center Drive, as well as at the H-E-B Plus! driveway. Other improvements include a safe merging lane addition for westbound traffic on Broadway Street, and modified business driveways at Market Place Boulevard.
Update: Construction is ongoing at several intersections in Shadow Creek Ranch.
