Several Pearland streets will undergo drainage and roadway improvements in 2027 following City Council’s approval of an engineering services contract at its Aug. 24 meeting.
What residents need to know
The contract with Houston-based engineering firm Consor North America will cover design and construction-phase services for two drainage and roadway projects with a combined budget of nearly $879,000, city documents show.
Diving in deeper
The first project, which includes Isla Drive, North Galveston Avenue and Cheryl Drive, will investigate a new storm sewer system to replace the existing pipe system, and add curb and gutter along the three roads. The project has a budget of nearly $477,000, documents show.
On East Plum Street, the city will evaluate a storm sewer system along the south side of the roadway, along with possible improvements to the existing channel. The project also includes milling and overlaying the roadway, with a budget of nearly $402,000, documents show,
The contract for both projects exceeded the city's original fiscal year 2025-26 engineering budget of $210,000. To cover the difference, $55,000 from contingency funds and $140,000 from construction funds were reallocated to engineering, without increasing the overall project budget, documents show.
Looking ahead
Consor is expected to complete the design phase within nine months, with construction slated to begin in September 2027.
