Central Texas Food Bank announces distribution sites in March following winter storm

A handful of food distribution sites across Travis County have been announced following February’s damaging winter storm.

The Central Texas Food Bank, a local food relief nonprofit charity, on March 2 released information on food distribution events for local residents experiencing increased food insecurity due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and lingering effects from damage caused by Winter Storm Uri.

The first event starts March 4 at the Travis County Expo Center. Four other distribution events are planned through the end of March. Residents in need can pick up food at the following sites and times:

Saturday, March 13

9 a.m.-noon

Austin Community College Kyle, 1200 Kohlers Crossing, Kyle

Tuesday, March 16

9 a.m.-noon

Toney Burger Center, 3200 Jones Road, Austin

Thursday, March 18

9 a.m.-noon

Del Valle High School, 5201 Ross Road, Del Valle

Saturday, March 27

9 a.m.-noon

KIPP School South Campus, 5107 I-35, Austin

The Central Texas Food Bank asks that residents picking up food at these distribution events use their cars, though the charity said that no one in need of food will be turned away.
