As we enter the first full week of March, here are some news items to know if you live in or around Northwest Austin.

1. Austin Oaks PUD hearing delayed

The proposed Austin Oaks planned unit development was set to be one of the marquee items on Austin City Council's March 2 agenda. But after handling several items — including approval of the controversial Plaza Saltillo development in East Austin and postponing an affordability action plan — pushed the meeting past midnight, the hearing was rescheduled for March 23. The Austin Oaks PUD rezone request that would allow Spire Realty to turn an office park at the southwest corner of MoPac and Spicewood Springs Road into a roughly 1 million-square-foot office, hotel, retail and apartment development.

2. Improvements planned at Lamar and Parmer

Safety improvements at Lamar Boulevard and Parmer Lane will begin Monday, include reconstructing the existing right-turn islands at the northwest and southeast corners of the intersection for better turning movements and adding high-visibility striped crosswalks to all crossing points. For the first two weeks of the project, one lane on northbound Lamar and one lane on eastbound Parmer will be closed weekdays from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. During the next two weeks, one lane on southbound Lamar and one lane on westbound Parmer will be closed weekdays from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Read more here. 3. SXSWedu starts Monday 

SXSWedu kicks off this week, with SXSW Interactive beginning March 10. Follow Community Impact Newspaper reports all week, starting with these previews and ways to attend the festival without a badge. SXSWedu continues until Thursday.

4. Round Rock ISD annual survey 

RRISD opened its annual survey March 1 for parents, students and staff to provide feedback on how the district's schools are operating and what improvements might be made. It is available online until March 10. Answers are kept anonymous. The survey is available in English as well as Spanish. A separate staff survey is also available here.

5. Austin seeks feedback on tenant relocation 

The city of Austin is seeking public input for what the rules of the Tenant Relocation Assistance Program should say. The city wants applicants to be required to notify tenants of relocation and wants to specify procedures for collecting or giving out tenant relocation and general policy directions. The public can share comments on the draft rules until April 1.
