Art studio reopens in Northwest Austin

Co-owner Aurelia Brogan said she and seven residents purchased the business Nov. 1 and completed minor renovations before the reopening, adding a new paint job and reorganizing the studio. The business now offers the MarmaLittles preschool program Tuesday through Friday.

The new art gallery features jewelry, pottery, glass and more by Austin artists. Brogan said the business is open to accepting new artists to feature at the studio.

"I think we all had a vision to really reach out the community with art and have a place for people to come and create," she said. "We couldn't all do it by ourselves so coming together was the best way to do that."

The studio is offering classes and workshops for holiday gift and ornament making Dec. 14 and 17.

Dec. 14—Holiday gift creation day

Art educators teach children in first through fifth grade to make three holiday gift items, including a clay ornament and a porcelain necklace charm. Children may be dropped off or parents are welcome to stay and participate. Children will also watch a movie, eat a snack and decorate a cookie to take home. The event is from 12:30–4:30 p.m. and costs $45 per child and $35 for each additional child.

Dec. 17—Holiday ornament workshop

Participants learn how to make their own ornaments for a holiday tree or table. Participants will make ornaments such as reindeer and cowboy boots. The workshop is for all ages and will be from 4–6 p.m. The cost is $18 to create two ornaments and $7 for each additional ornament.
