Ascension Texas names new regional hospital president

Ascension Texas announced Jan. 16 that Timothy Brierty has assumed the role of regional hospital president, effective immediately.

In this new role, Brierty will oversee three Ascension Seton hospitals: Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas, Ascension Seton Shoal Creek and Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin, according to a Jan. 16 news release from Ascension Texas.

Brierty will oversee day-to-day operations in the hospitals and will lead development of strategy and policy for each hospital, according to the news release.

“We are incredibly fortunate to have Tim [serving on the executive team at Ascension Seton, as he has proven to be a compassionate and effective leader,” said Christann Vasquez, chief operating officer of Ascension Texas, in the news release.

The new Ascension Texas regional hospital president carries with him more than 27 years of experience working in the health care field. Brierty originally joined the Ascension team in October 2018, serving as the health care network’s chief operating officer at Dell Seton Medical Center.

Brierty has worked for several health care networks across Texas, according to Ascension Texas, including more than 20 years of leadership experience at McKenna Health System in New Braunfels and 10 years at University Healthcare System in San Antonio, where he served as the CEO for its University Hospital.
