1. Intersection improvements

In July, the city of Austin installed two pedestrian hybrid beacons at  North Lamar Boulevard and Rundberg Lane and in front of John B. Connally High School. The city also installed in July a traffic signal on Lamar north of Parmer Lane. The projects are part of an initiative to upgrade five intersections prioritized for safety improvements. Other projects on Lamar at Parmer and Rundberg include constructing raised medians and raised right-turn channelized islands, restriping and adding crosswalks. 2. MoPac frontage roads resurfacing

In August, TxDOT completed a resurfacing project on the MoPac frontage roads from Parmer Lane to Waters Park Road. Timeline: June-August Cost: $787,600 Funding sources: TxDOT

3. I-35 main lanes repaving

TxDOT will resurface the I-35 main lanes from Wells Branch Parkway to Rundberg Lane. The project will be bid upon in November. Timeline: TBD Cost: estimated at $4 million Funding sources: TxDOT

4. New sidewalks near Barrington Elementary School

As part of the city of Austin’s Quarter Cent Fund program, the city will build sidewalks near Barrington Elementary School in North Austin on Shepard Drive, North Drive, East Fawnridge Drive and Carpenter Avenue. Funding for the QCF comes from Capital Metro revenue originally slated to go toward light rail in 2000. Projects funded by the QCF are located within 1/4 mile of a school and transit stop and are designed to enhance safety, provide access to schools and support transit. 5. Pump station utility improvements

The city of Austin is making improvements to the Spicewood Springs Pump Station on Mesa Drive that will affect area traffic. Work to install a new water line near the pump station and on Mesa and Spicewood Lane will be complete in January. In mid-summer the city finished installing a new water line on Far West Boulevard as part of the project. Crews are now working on water services on Far West, including testing soils, pipes, water, asphalt and connections to existing utilities. 6. Sidewalk construction and upgrades

The city of Austin is planning to improve sidewalks on Jollyville Road between Duval and Balcones Woods drives. The project will include new sidewalk construction and retrofitting existing sidewalks and ramps to bring them into compliance with the federal Americans with Disabilities Act. Timeline: November-December Cost: $330,000 Funding sources: Capital Metro, city of Austin 2000 and 2012 mobility bonds

7. I-35 maintenance

TxDOT started construction in September on a full-depth pavement repair project on the I-35 main lanes and frontage roads. Workers will start at Riverside Drive and work their way north to Wells Branch Drive. Timeline: September-November Cost: $850,000 Funding sources: TxDOT
