1.World’s Largest Swimming Lesson in Austin SafeSplash invites the public to help it set an official world record for the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson, an international event aiming to teach kids to swim and prevent drowning. SafeSplash has planned games, safety presentations and a free 30-minute swim lesson. Registration begins at noon, and the swim lesson takes place at 1 p.m. Free. Third Thursdays at Rock Rose Domain Northside's Rock Rose continues its Third Thursdays series this month. 4. Breakfast aids area seniors Fans from Fans benefits Family Eldercare’s Summer Fan Drive through Aug. 31. Parents can drop off their children a participating park to can enjoy supervised outdoor activities, such as include sports, arts and crafts, games, teamwork and character building, and fitness and nutrition lessons. 6. Solstice Music Festival Solstice Festival returns for its fourth annual celebration of music, art and technology. This year the festival joins hundreds of cities throughout the world celebrating Fête de la Musique, or World Music Day. On Saturday, the festival offers 10 hours of music at Pan Am Park. Free adoptions at Austin Humane Society All adoptions from the Austin Humane Society, including puppies and kittens, are free on Saturday and Sunday. Potential adopters can stop by the shelter throughout the weekend to pick out a new furry friend.
