These Katy-area projects are under construction or are set to break ground in 2019:
Commercial development
1. Costco Wholesale Corp.
The warehouse club will build a distribution center on Hwy. 90 near the Igloo and Amazon plants, according to city of Katy officials and a Costco press release. The company is working with Katy to expedite the inspection process to construct the center as soon as possible.
2. Grand Morton Town Center
NewQuest Properties will finish a 60,000-square-foot retail building at the shopping center by mid-2019, an associate said. The building will host HomeGoods, Michaels, Petco and Hallmark stores.
3. Katy Grand
Newquest Properties began construction late 2018 on Phase 2 of Katy Grand, a representative said. Another building will break ground in the first quarter of 2019. Tenants will include Kura Revolving Sushi Bar and Kinokuniya Books.
4. Stableside at Falcon Landing
NewQuest Properties also began construction on Phase 2 of Stableside at Falcon Landing in January, an associate said. Phase 2 will bring about 35,000 square feet of retail anchored by The Union Kitchen and Jax Grill restaurants. Other tenants will include VillaSport Athletic Club and Spa.
5. Village at Katy
The 84-acre mixed-use development broke ground in December, developer Giammalva Properties President Vincent Giammalva said. American Furniture Warehouse will anchor the project, which will include retail, residential and office space.
Residential development
6. Elyson
Newland Communities continues to build out the 3,642-acre master-planned community, a spokesperson said via email. The developer began construction on a new phase on the northside of FM 529.
7. Katy Crossing
Construction on homesites began in late 2018 at the 175-acre subdivision, said a sales manager with Centex Homes, which is developing the project with Lennar Homes.
8. Katy Lakes
The first residents of the master-planned community are expected to move in this summer, said a sales representative from Castle Rock, one of the builders at the site.
9. LakeHouse
Trendmaker Homes expects to be finished with Phase 1 and all amenities in spring 2019 at the 225-acre master-planned community, a representative said via email.
