Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County Proposition A
METRO is asking for voter approval of a bond referendum that would provide the authority with $3.5 billion in bonds to be issued over 20 years with no new taxes. The bond money would be used to advance the METRONext Moving Forward Plan, including a new Park & Ride facility in the Fairfield area, several Park & Ride facilities along Hwy. 249, the extension of an existing light rail line to Hobby Airport and the creation of new Metro Rapid high-speed bus lines, among other projects. The funding could also help bring in another $3.5 billion in federal matching funds, according to METRO estimates.
