On Aug. 20, Keller City Council approved a contract for the construction of a new 4,200-foot trail extension on Whitley and Rapp roads. The extension will run along the east side of Whitley from Edenderry Drive to Rapp and along Rapp eastbound to Willis Lane. The project is part of Safe Routes to School, a nationwide initiative to help students walk safely to school. The trail will improve safety for students traveling to Messiah Lutheran Academy and Willis Lane Elementary School, according to Keller city officials. It will also connect to existing trails extending east to Rufe Snow Drive and south to Keller’s city limits.
