As of Sept. 1, all breweries in Texas will be allowed to sell packaged beer on-site, regardless of their license, thanks to a new state law that takes effect.
Until now, Texas was the only state in the country to prohibit to-go sales at manufacturing breweries. The new law will allow consumers to walk away with up to one case of 12-ounce bottles or cans, or 288 ounces, per day from a brewery. Some breweries with a brewpub license already had the ability to sell beer to-go.
Here are some local breweries inside the Loop that are marking the brewery business milestone on Sept. 1 with specials and events.
