On Sept. 1, a new Texas law will go into effect, allowing breweries, regardless of license type, to sell beer to go at their breweries. Texas was the last state in the union to legalize the practice.

The new law—a last-hour addition to a bill allowing the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission to continue operating—permits brewers of all licenses to sell up to 288 ounces of beer per daily customer for off-premises consumption.

Several breweries in and around Northwest Austin are holding events Sept. 1 in celebration. Many breweries are rolling out special releases to commemorate the event.
