New Braunfels ISD receives B grade in 2019 Texas Education Agency accountability rating

The Texas Education Agency has given six New Braunfels ISD schools an A grade in the first official release of the agency’s A-F accountability ratings. Overall, New Braunfels ISD received a B grade in the 2019 ratings, according to the TEA.

The 89 out of 100 grade shows an improvement compared to last year’s B score—86 out of 100. In the three domains the TEA uses to measure a district, New Braunfels ISD received an 89 for student achievement, an 83 for school progress and an 89 for Closing the Gap.

Out of 15 public schools serving New Braunfels ISD, six earned an A grade in 2019: Seele Elementary, County Line Elementary, Walnut Springs Elementary, the New Braunfels 9th Grade Center, Lone Star Early Childhood Center and the NBISD Learning Center.

In addition, seven NBISD schools received a B grade in the 2019 TEA accountability ratings. Those schools were Carl Schurz Elementary, Lamar Elementary, Veramendi Elementary, Voss Farms Elementary, New Braunfels Middle School, Oak Run Middle School and New Braunfels High School.

Klein Road Elementary received a C grade, and Memorial Elementary received a D grade in the 2019 TEA report.

In 2018, out of 13 NBISD schools on the 2018 TEA report, none were labeled Improvement Required. All 13 schools were rated as Met Standard in the 2018 TEA report.
