Leander City Council will meet Aug. 13 to conduct interviews for a new city manager. Council will convene into closed session during the interviews, according to the meeting agenda. While council could take action after the closed session, city spokesperson Mike Neu said council also has plans to discuss the appointment of a new city manager during its regular meeting Aug. 15. The Aug. 15 agenda states council will “deliberate the appointment of the city manager.” The search for a new city manager began in June following the dismissal of former City Manager Kent Cagle. Council fired Cagle in May. Gordon Pierce, a contracted executive with Texas First Group, has been serving as interim city manager. A task force of Mayor Troy Hill, Mayor Pro Tem Chris Czernek and Council Member Jason Shaw has been overseeing the process for selecting a new city manager along with Powell Municipal, a consulting firm guiding the recruitment and selection process.
