As summer vacation comes to a close, there are plenty of things to do in the Conroe and Montgomery areas to make the most of your last few days of freedom.

Enjoy some Shakespeare

The Crighton Theatre’s Summer Youth Camp will present its adaptation of William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” The comedy tells the story of four young Athenian lovers who are manipulated by the fairies that inhabit a forest. 7 p.m. (Fri.-Sat.), 2 p.m. (Sat.-Sun.). $10 for adults, $5 for students. Run a 5K
Aug. 3

Slip on your tennis shoes and go running, ending at Southern Star Brewing Co. Participants in the race get a free glass and T-shirt and can sample up to four 8-ounce beers. The race is walker and stroller friendly. This race is part of the Run in Texas 2019 Texas 5K 6-Pack Beer Challenge, with six races throughout Texas hosted by local breweries. 8-11 a.m. Free. Go to a dirt bike race

Motorcycle riding school Texas Tornados Bootcamp will host its Dirt Wars race Aug. 3. The race will feature 36 racers with provided identical Yamaha TTR-125 machines. Get pumped for the school year

In preparation for the first day of school for Conroe ISD on Aug. 14, Washington Junior High School will host a back-to-school bash, handing out free backpacks and other school supplies. Shoot some guns

Patriots of Texas will host its second annual Sporting Clays Tournament at Blackwood Gun Club in Conroe.
