League City will host its fifth annual Paws and Claws Adopt-a-Thon from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. July 20 and noon-4 p.m. July 21 at Hometown Heroes Park, 1001 E. League City Parkway.
Pet adoption shelter intake rises, and the number of pet adoptions falls during summer months across the Houston and Galveston areas, including in League City. The League City Animal Shelter is nearly at capacity with dogs and cats, according to a city press release.
Pets, all of which are vaccinated and spayed or neutered, will be available for $20. Surrounding shelters will bring in hundreds of kittens, puppies, and adult cats and dogs for residents to adopt at the event, the release reads.
Residents can also bring their own pets to the event for free microchipping and cheaper vaccinations. The event includes food vendors and a silent auction.
