The Harris County Toll Road Authority will close two inside lanes of the southbound Hwy. 249 frontage road between Zion Road and just south of Brown Road this weekend, officials said July 16, as Hwy. 249 construction continues in Tomball. The closure begins Friday, July 19, at 10 p.m. and goes through 5 a.m. Monday, July 22. HCTRA officials said drivers in the Tomball area should expect delays as a result of the closure. HCTRA crews are working on a tolled extension of Hwy. 249 from FM 2920 to Spring Creek in Tomball as part of a larger multiagency extension project with the Montgomery County Toll Road Authority and the Texas Department of Transportation to extend Hwy. 249 to Navasota. The new tolled lanes in Harris County are anticipated to open to drivers by the year's end. Other Hwy. 249 closures include:
  • One inside lane of the northbound frontage road between Graham Drive and FM 2920 will be closed daily 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, July 18, to Friday, July 19.
  • The Hwy. 249 southbound to northbound U-turn lane at FM 2920 will be closed 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, July 18, to Friday, July 19.
