Since Max Westbrook's resignation in September, city officials have been on the hunt for the new chief of the Rollingwood Police Department.

The selection committee has narrowed its list to three candidates, and the city is holding a meet and greet event Aug. 1 at the Rollingwood Municipal Building from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

The three candidates are William F. Pitmon II, a lieutenant with the city of Bee Cave; Jason Brady, a captain for the city of Corpus Christi; and Richard Andreucci, a lieutenant with the city of Sunset Valley.

"Please hear from each of the three candidates for the position and visit with them about their vision for the Rollingwood Police Department and community," a release from the city of Rollingwood states.

The release also states residents may provide input to the city's selection committee, which consists of City Administrator Amber Lewis, Alderperson Sara Hutson, Bob Moore, Mayor Michael Dyson, Alderperson Amy Pattillo and Daniel Arispe.

Lewis said the list of candidates does not include interim police Chief Kristal Pompa, who has led the department since Westbrook's Sept. 16 resignation, though resident and police endorsement, including from Westbrook, has shown her to be a popular choice.

During a Feb. 21 City Council meeting, it appeared Pompa was in serious consideration for the job when Hutson made a motion to hire her permanently, but that failed in a 3-2 vote.

Council eventually directed Lewis to lead the effort to find a new chief. Lewis said she enlisted a selection committee and together they screened applications and conducted one round of interviews.

Council reasoned during the Feb. 21 meeting that a vote to place Pompa as chief, regardless of her popularity in the community, was not procedurally correct without a valid hiring process.

Lewis said a candidate recommendation should go to City Council for its Aug. 21 meeting and predicted a mid- to late September start date for whomever is chosen.
