Six permits were issued this week to clear properties along West Alabama and Kirby Drive, which grocer H-E-B acquired in 2018.
The former locations of Petite Sweets, J Sussan Interiors and Strictly Golf are among the buildings cleared for teardown at the location, held by 2700 Alabama Kirby LLC. Construction details have not been announced. Plat filings with the Houston Planning Commission refer to the 3.65 acre site as Kirby Crossing.
The former location of a Harris County juvenile detention facility at 3540 W. Dallas St. was cleared for demolition as well. It was sold to an affiliate of developer Hanover in October for $30.6 million. The site received variances in January from the Planning Commission for a site plan that included six buildings offering retail, office and hotel uses.
In other activity, a demolition permit was issued to St. Anne's Catholic School as it continues a
renovation effort that broke ground in May.
