Yucca and Churchill drives Phase 1 Storm water installation on Churchill Drive in Flower Mound is ongoing. Concrete placement of Churchill and sidewalk/trail is anticipated to begin in early May. Utility installation for Yucca Drive is scheduled for completion by mid-May. Phase I consists of the extension of Churchill to Yucca, including underground storm and water facilities. Work on Yucca will begin following Phase 1 work. Weather permitting, final completion is anticipated for December. The project will also reconstruct Yucca from Sagebrush Drive to approximately 700 feet south of Cross Timbers Road and extend Churchill approximately 400 feet to connect to Yucca. Timeline: February-December 2019 Cost: $2 million Funding source: town of Flower Mound FM 544 expansion Work on FM 544 from FM 2281 to Dozier Road is 92% complete. Crews are currently working on sidewalks at Plano Parkway and Josey Lane. Work on sod placement and the rail is also ongoing. The project consists of widening the road from a two-lane rural roadway to a six-lane divided urban curb and gutter roadway with a raised median. Bridges were built that run over the Kansas City Southern Railroad and Indian Creek. Timeline: summer 2015-June 2019 Cost: $35.3 million Funding sources: cities of Carrollton and Lewisville, Texas Department of Transportation, Denton County Valley Ridge intersection complete Work to reconstruct the intersection at Valley Ridge Boulevard and Mill Street in Lewisville was completed at the end of April. There was a dip in the intersection that caused some eastbound and westbound traffic to bottom out upon crossing the intersection at the posted speed limit, so the city adjusted the intersection grades. In addition, some of the crosswalks at the intersection were not compliant with the American with Disabilities Act, so those were addressed as well. Valley Ridge between Mill and Kealy Avenue was previously closed as a traffic-control measure. Timeline: March-April Cost: $250,000 Funding source: city of Lewisville Firewheel Drive improvements Weather permitting, final completion of the project is expected for May. In May, existing failed panels on the southbound lanes of Firewheel Drive are expected to be removed and replaced. Pavement markings are expected to occur after replacement of the panels. The project includes the completion of 340 feet of a four-lane section of Firewheel from north of Garden Road to south of Milford Drive in Flower Mound.
