Editor's note: This story has been updated with comments from Eric Evans, CEO of HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball. Discussions are ongoing between HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball and NewQuest Properties' newly launched Healthcare and Wellness Real Estate Division to redesign the hospital campus at 605 Holderrieth Blvd., Tomball, according to an April 29 news release from NewQuest. The 150-acre campus redevelopment is the first project by NewQuest's new health care-focused division, according to the release. The proposed project will redesign and expand the 41-year-old campus in the city of Tomball, including 70 acres for new development. A tentative site plan outlines a new fitness facility, restaurants, and retail and medical space. "The 'retailization' of health care is here," said Ashley Strickland, NewQuest vice president and health care division leader, in the release. "There is a need and an expectation for medical care closer to home. Retail and mixed-use projects have become the preferred option in high-growth markets like Houston." HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball was renamed in late January from Tomball Regional Medical Center, which was acquired by HCA Houston Healthcare—previously HCA Gulf Coast Division—in July 2017, Community Impact Newspaper previously reported. The hospital has served the Tomball and Magnolia communities for more than 40 years. “We’re proud to work with NewQuest as we continue to add valuable resources to the HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball campus," said Eric Evans, CEO of HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball, in a statement. "In addition to our own expansion efforts in women’s and emergency services, this project will update existing spaces and bring new facilities, such as mixed-use restaurant, retail and medical office buildings. We are excited to modernize our campus and make it a more convenient, comprehensive destination for patients, visitors and the community.”
