Alvin ISD Assistant Superintendent Daniel Combs was named interim superintendent at the Jan. 8 school board meeting. Combs will fill the position as the school board continues the search for a superintendent.
The position opened up once former Superintendent Buck Gilcrease announced his retirement at the Nov. 13 board meeting.
"Alvin ISD is deeply committed to success to each student and there is a strong vision that guides the direction of Alvin ISD. The goal of the Alvin ISD trustees and the Alvin ISD leadership team is to continue in that direction and that the students, teachers and campuses have the resources they need to be successful," Combs said.
In December, the board hired the law firm Thompson & Horton to assist with the search for the new top executive for the district. The search for the superintendent should wrap up by this summer, Combs said.
