The Texas General Land Office and Harris County Community Services Department will be hosting an informational meeting for Friendswood residents at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 17 at Friendswood City Hall.
GLO representatives and the Harris County Community Services Department will be answering questions regarding the Homeowner Assistance Program, which provides financial assistance for repairs to homes damaged by Hurricane Harvey.
The application for the Homeowner Assistance Program opened to Galveston County residents Dec. 3.
There is $258 million available for Brazoria, Chambers, Galveston, Liberty, Montgomery and Walker counties for rehabilitation and reconstruction for homes damaged by the hurricane.
There is a limited amount offered in the Homeowner Assistance Program, so the program will operate on a first come, first served basis.
Applicants must meet the criteria the Department of Housing and Urban Development has set. Seventy percent of funds must go to low-to-moderate income areas, and 80 percent must go to hardest-hit areas, which includes Galveston County, GLO Press Secretary Brittany Eck said.
