The Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts, which closed for renovation after Hurricane Harvey flooded the building in late August 2017, will reopen to the community Nov. 17. The public grand opening is from 1-5 p.m., while a preview open to members will be held from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., according to a news release. The day will include tours and free art activities. “Through the strong support and dedication of the community, the Pearl has been restored,” PFMFA Director Ani Boyajian said. “We look forward to serving the Houston community from the sparkling-new space with exciting art and educational programming for all to enjoy.” The renovation and reopening coincides with the museum's 10th anniversary. Among the renovations the museum's wood floors, glass gallery doors and exhibit spaces have been restored to their original state, and areas used for art classes have been improved, according to the news release. The first exhibit the museum is hosting is selections from the Chip Hosek Collection of American Art, featuring work collected by the Pearland collector. This is the second time the museum has exhibited works from this collection, but since the initial show in 2009 the collection has expanded, according to the museum. Featured works include pieces by the Wyeth family, Norman Rockwell and Andy Warhol. The museum is located at 6815 Cypresswood Drive, Spring, and it will resume its operating hours of 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. It will be closed Nov. 22-23 for Thanksgiving, and it will be open Nov. 24. Admission to the museum is free, but a $5 donation per adult is suggested.
