Carla Stewart began teaching classes in the original Hutto Yoga Room in 2015 in a building off of Taylor Street near downtown Hutto. As interest in the classes grew, she moved her business to its current location—a historic building on FM 1660—in November 2017.

“As Hutto has gotten more popular, more people have searched for yoga in this area,” Stewart said. “We outgrew our little room [on Taylor Street] and now we are here.”

The 100-year-old building features a main studio equipped for traditional and aerial yoga classes and a smaller room for meditation and Reiki massage—a Japanese technique aimed at stress reduction, relaxation and healing. In early 2019, the studio will open a smaller room for individual classes and grow the massage room to include a wellness library for self-study.

“We are considered a small, boutique yoga studio and we focus on empowering people with their yoga practice, so there is a full spectrum of yogis in every single class,” Stewart said, adding that participants range in skill level from beginner to advanced. Some students are taking modification classes to work through injuries.

“What we really want to offer here is a comfortable place to access your yoga practice,” Stewart said.

The Hutto Yoga Room offers workshops for beginners as well as training for those interested in teaching yoga.

“Everybody is walking in for a different reason with a different body,” Stewart said. “We want to help everyone, from the person who is overwhelmed and looking for an hour of relaxation to the person that this is their only movement or cardio for the week so they want to give it their all.”
