FM 1960 near Spring and Klein is one of the most-congested roadways in Texas, according to the latest annual report from the Texas A&M Transportation Institute.
FM 1960 between Hwy. 249 and I-45 is the 32nd most-congested roadway in Texas with 366,567 hours wasted annually in traffic per mile—a calculation which compares how long it takes to travel a road in both congested and uncongested conditions.
Those hours on FM 1960 are estimated to cost drivers more than $59.9 million annually in wasted time and fuel. About 45,000 vehicles drive the segment daily, according to the report.
Another road that ranked high on the list is the nearest portion of I-45.
I-45 from Spring Cypress Road/FM 2920 to Beltway 8 is No. 153 on the list with 136,473 hours wasted annually in traffic per mile, costing drivers about $25.3 million annually.
Texas A&M studied the traffic volume and speed data of about 1,800 road segments across Texas, according to an Oct. 22 press release. The Transportation Institute published a list of the top 100 congested roads, of which 39 were in the Greater Houston area.
