Following the resignation in September of part time chief Max Westbrook, the City of Rollingwood voted to issue a request for proposals for recruitment services to fill the chief of police position. All proposals from professional search firms must be received by Nov. 15 and city documents state that each proposal submitted will be evaluated to determine if it meets stated requirements. Chief Kristal Pompa has held the interim title since mid-September, and council also voted to compensate her for time earned while she was a non-exempt employee in the amount of $4,738. Rollingwood Journalist honored with own day Mayor Roxanne McKee proclaimed Oct. 17 Ed Allen Day in the City of Rollingwood for his “tireless dedication to reporting the news and events in the City of Rollingwood.” Allen has been a reporter, photographer and editor for the Westlake Picayune for more than 30 years and has won several awards for general excellence from the Texas Press Association. City to crack seal roads Council elected to hire Alpha Paving Industries LLC. To perform crack sealing services on all streets and roadways in Rollingwood. The contract totals $20,300. Discussion of rezoning properties on Bee Caves Road Council discussed rezoning several undeveloped tracts of land along Bee Caves Rd. as a preemptive move. Alderwoman Amy Pattillo said that getting ahead of the issue could help mitigate potential traffic problems should those property owners submit plans to develop. Alderwoman Sara Hutson said that rezoning could change the value of the properties and said that owner input was necessary. The reality is that the tracts have been sitting undeveloped for decades, Pattillo said, and it might be prudent to start the discussion now because it’s likely they could be developed soon. Council voted to request that the Rollingwood Planning and Zoning Commission examine whether rezoning the properties might be needed based on transportation safety issues.
