November voter turnout in Montgomery County has dropped in the last 30 years, but presidential and midterm election turnouts still dwarf those that occur during years with no major national elections.

In 1988, a presidential election year, 69.81 percent of Montgomery County voters went to the polls, according to the Texas Secretary of State website. The number rose to 78.42 percent in 1992.

Since then, the number has fallen despite a growing population and has not reached the 70 percent mark since. In years without a presidential election, voter turnout has been as low as 32 percent.

While not a presidential election year, 2018 does have key races including Texas governor, U.S. senator and county judges as well as local elections, including director positions on The Woodlands Township.
