1. University Boulevard South improvements: Temporary lane closures along University Boulevard in Sugar Land began in early September and will continue through mid-October, according to an alert from Sugar Land city officials. The short-term closures will be intermittent and will run from Brazos Landing to the Riverstone area. The project includes new roadway pavement markings, construction of an eastbound right-turn lane at Monarch Drive and construction of a monument wall within the existing median at Monarch Drive. During construction the left-turn lanes on Monarch Drive will be closed.

  2. Dairy Ashford Road widening: Alternating lane closures on Dairy Ashford Road between Hwy. 90A and Corporate Drive took place in early September for storm drain installation work. Upon completion, the project in Sugar Land will widen Dairy Ashford Road by one lane in each direction from Parklane Boulevard to Stiles Lane, according to a news alert from the city.

  3. Hwy. 6 widening: Construction began in September to widen Hwy. 6 from six to eight lanes from Brooks Street to Lexington Boulevard. The project is meant to alleviate traffic running through Sugar Land’s busiest intersection at Hwy. 6 and Hwy. 59. Widening the 1.5-mile stretch will take over a year to complete.

  4. Independence Boulevard/Staffordshire Road reconstruction: Court Road in Missouri City is expected to remain closed for the remainder of 2018 from Moore to Staffordshire roads as work continues on reconstructing a portion of Independence Boulevard from a two-lane concrete roadway to a four-lane divided street. Work began in late August on realigning Independence Boulevard and Staffordshire Road at Court Road. Segment 2 of this project is slated to begin this fall with construction to be sent out for bids.

  5. Adams Street reconstruction: This project will reconstruct Adams Street in Missouri City and installing new sidewalks between Texas Parkway and Fifth Street. The city’s contractor closed Crestwood Lane at Adams Street as of Sept. 7. Detour routes are in place. Due to weather delays, the original completion date has been pushed one month to November.
