Humble City Council discussed its fiscal year 2018-19 budget and set two public hearings to discuss its property tax rate for the upcoming year at its Aug. 15 meeting.
The proposed budget consists of $111.05 million in expenditures with the largest allocation of $36.13 million dedicated to the city’s general fund, which funds the maintenance and operation of the city’s departments.
The proposed budget includes $632,979 to fund the addition of six new positions at the city’s fire department and $106,157 to fund one new detective position within the city’s police department. The budget includes a 3.4 percent increase in expenditures from the $107.39 million budget city council members approved for FY 2017-18.
Humble City Manager Jason Stuebe said the public hearings to discuss the city’s FY 2018-19 property tax rate are scheduled for Sept. 6 and 11. He said the city will establish its proposed tax rate after receiving the city’s certified tax rolls from the Harris County Appraisal District.
After the two hearings, City Council will vote on the city’s budget and property tax rate at its Sept. 13 meeting.
