LPD is encouraging Lewisville residents to attend the free family-friendly event to help celebrate the milestone and visit with local public safety officers.
During the event, attendees will learn about the history of the department—which was founded August 9, 1939—and learn more about modern crime-fighting techniques and equipment.
Several specialty booths will be set up inside of the police headquarters including the Lewisville Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association, Children's Advocacy Center of Denton County, LPD dispatchers, C7 Human Trafficking Coalition, and Lewisville-Flower Mound Teen Court, and Animal Services will have a special adoption center.
LPD’s Armored Personnel Carrier, the new SWAT Faber Utility Vehicle and a Lewisville Fire Department apparatus will be on display, as well as several other LPD vehicles. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the vehicles, learn how they work and their importance in helping the LPD. The guided tours will be held from 6-8:30 p.m.
Police K9s Cziko, Stryker and their handlers will demonstrate their roles in the crime-fighting process. Guided tours begin at 6 p.m. and will end at 8:30 p.m.
Righteous BBQ and Tikiz Shaved Ice will have food trucks on-site selling food and snow cones.
Attendees should park in the north lot between Central Fire Station and the Library.
