KFB Plaza, Inc. will begin construction on new strip centers at 1165 and 1185 Katy Fort Bend Road in Katy by mid-August, Commercial Realty Company President Fred Ash said. Commercial Realty Company is handling the preleasing for the property.

Ash said the property will feature an 8,000-square-foot and a 10,000-square-foot building just north of I-10 at the southwest corner of the intersection of Katy Fort Bend Road and Fifth Street.

The new strip centers will be designed to cater to a variety of businesses including fast food, sit-down restaurants, coffee shops and medical offices, Ash said.

"[The site will feature] two drive-thrus," said Ash. "There's one on either end of those two buildings. Those are going to be relatively easy to lease."

Ray Golshan, a manager at KFB Plaza, Inc. said the development should be complete by the first quarter of 2019.

Ash said suites will be available in a range of sizes from 1,000-10,000 square feet. Commercial Realty Company said the new facility will be within a mile of about 8,500 residents. About 21,500 vehicles per day pass near the facility, including those on nearby I-10, according to the company.

Ash estimates the site may bring about 60 jobs to the area, but the number will depend on which types of businesses lease suites, he said.
