Following the May 5 local elections for Grapevine-Colleyville ISD board of trustees, no candidate for Place 2 obtained the necessary majority to secure the seat.
In the election for Place 2,
Becky St. John received 3,143 votes or 49.99 percent of the votes, while her opponent,
Amy Putnam, received 3,136 votes or 49.88 percent. Nick Walters, a write-in candidate, received eight votes, or 0.13 percent.
A runoff occurs when no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the vote. St. John and Putnam, the two candidates who secured the most votes, will advance to a runoff election.
Anyone can vote in the runoff election regardless if he or she voted in the May 5 election.
The last day to register to vote for the June 16 election was May 17. Early voting took place from June 4-9 and June 11-12.
