The Rollingwood Police Department and West Lake Hills Police Department entered into an interlocal, mutual aid agreement in May. “For Rollingwood, this doubles the task force of nine full time and two reserve officers,” Rollingwood City Administrator Amber Lewis said. “Residents can feel safer knowing we can rely on West Lake Hills, and the same goes for them relying on us.” Officers from the two municipalities won’t necessarily patrol both cities, rather they will be available to assist in an emergency. “This is for if something catastrophic happens, a shooting or an accident,” Lewis said. “Or say our police are responding to another call and there is a big emergency, then West Lake Hills would come over and respond. We’ll fill in each others’ gaps.” This has already been done in practice, Lewis said, but there hasn’t been an official agreement until now.
