The city of Tomball reopened its public pool at Jerry Matheson Park, located at 1240 Ulrich Road, on June 2 for the summer season. As the weather warms up, here are a few things to know about cooling off at the pool in Tomball.

Swim season

The pool is open Tue.-Sun. through Aug. 19 and open Sat.-Sun. from Aug. 20-Sept. 3, according to city information. Hours of operation are:
  • 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tue.-Fri.
  • noon-8 p.m. Sat.-Sun.
  • closed Mon. (except on Labor Day, Sept. 3)

Pool rules

  • Guests younger than age 12 must be accompanied by an adult, age 18 or older, in the pool.
  • The pool is free and open to swimmers of all ages.
  • Appropriate swim wear is required. Swimsuits, swimming trunks, swim shirts and water shoes are permitted. T-shirts and shorts cannot be worn in the pool.
  • Swim diapers are required for infants and babies.
  • Flotation devices are not permitted.
  • Food, drinks, smoking and glass containers are not permitted in the pool area. However, eating and drinking is allowed in designated areas.

Tomball Kids Swim

The water safety program offers swim lessons for elementary school-aged children. Students will learn basic life-saving swim skills as part of the introductory swimming program, according to city information. The program is free to children age 4-7 with limited class sizes. An application for the July session must be received in person from 4-5 p.m. June 26 at the Jerry Matheson Park pool. Classes meet on Tuesdays from July 3-24 or Thursdays from July 5-26.
