Here are five transportation projects taking place in McKinney during June and early July:

1. Virginia Parkway widening
Paving for the new outside travel lanes in both directions on Virginia Parkway from Bellegrove Drive to Jordan Road is expected to begin in June. Drivers can expect daily lane closures between 9 a.m.-4 p.m. until construction in the area is complete.

Utility work along Virginia from Carlisle Street to US 75 and various improvements at the intersection of Hardin Boulevard are expected to be complete in early July.

2. FM 546 extension
Drivers can expect short-term closures on Couch Drive and Country Lane at the points where they cross the new FM 546 until construction on the project is complete. When complete this 1.7-mile, four-lane divided roadway will run from McDonald Street and connect to the existing FM 546 at the south end of the McKinney National Airport.

3. Hardin Boulevard and US 380 lane closures
Intermittent lane closures near the intersection of US 380 and Hardin Boulevard are expected weekly in June from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. During this time, crews will install various turn lanes into the new developments.

4. McKinney Ranch Parkway work
Construction on McKinney Ranch Parkway from Hardin Boulevard to US 75 is expected to be complete in June. This project includes the construction of McKinney Ranch as a four-lane divided roadway from Hardin to US 75.

5. Standifer Street reconstruction
Street reconstruction on Standifer Street from Railroad to Bumpas streets will continue in June with various lane closures expected. Construction work on Standifer includes replacement of pavement and sidewalks.

This is one of various street repair projects taking place in McKinney this year. Projects are identified on an annual basis by the city of McKinney streets department.
