Hays County commissioners on Tuesday voted to start the process of getting a new website.

The unanimous approval on consent allows county staff to solicit vendor proposals for a new county website that would “better reflect the vision and mission of Hays County and incorporate the latest web technology,” according to the request for proposal, or RFP.

“The current site is outdated in appearance and lacks interactive features,” the RFP states.

Hays County Communications Manager Laureen Chernow said the website last underwent a redesign in December 2013. This was done by the county's internal information technology department.

The county is asking for the website to be user-friendly, compatible, attractive, mobile-friendly and in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, among other requirements.

Proposals will be accepted until 3 p.m. April 12. The full RFP can be found in Tuesday's agenda.
