The city of Leander will begin live-streaming and archiving video of City Council meetings March 15. Residents can go to
www.leandertx.gov/video starting tonight to watch live video streams or watch archived council meetings on-demand, according to the city's website.
According to state law, cities with populations greater than 50,000 must make audio and video recordings of open meetings available on the internet. Per the city’s fiscal year 2017-18 budget, installing the video camera system hardware and software in council chambers was an objective for the fiscal year.
Leander City Council meetings are held on the first and third Thursdays of each month at 7 p.m. Agendas of upcoming meetings are posted at least 72 hours in advance, and agendas and minutes from previous meetings are available at
www.leandertx.gov/meetings.
