Residential developer Land Tejas has broken ground on Sierra Vista, a new community along the Hwy. 288 corridor at County Road 56, on the opposite side of the growing Meridiana development in the Iowa Colony area.

“The launch of Sierra Vista represents our expanded presence in the vital Highway 288 corridor,” Jennifer Keller, president and chief operating officer for Land Tejas, said in a news release.

The 850-acre development joins Land Tejas's Sterling Lakes subdivision in the area. Home prices are expected to start in the low $200,000s with homes by builders Anglia Homes, CastleRock Communities, D.R. Horton and Westin Homes.

Students in the area attend schools in the Alvin Independent School District, including Meridiana Elementary, Don Jeter Elementary, Manvel Junior High and Manvel High School.

Land Tejas's 18th has opened four communities in the last year — Etteridge in Humble, Lago Mar in Texas City, Wedgewood Forest in Conroe and Balmoral in Humble — and Sierra Vista will be its 18th community in its 20-year history.
