During Tuesday's meeting, the Fort Bend County Commissioners Court received a racial profiling report from the Precinct 3 Constable’s Office, ratified a grant application for public transportation programs, and approved agreements with Municipal Utility District 19 and the city of Arcola for water and wastewater system improvements.1) Racial profiling reportFort Bend County Precinct 3 Constable Wayne Thompson submitted the precinct’s 2017 racial profiling report, citing 8,531 motor vehicle stops conducted in 2017 by the Constable’s Office.Race and ethnicity of the individual were not known prior to the stop 99 percent of the time, according to the report. Approximately 57 percent of individuals stopped were male and 43 percent were female.A search was conducted for 3 percent of the stops, and less than 1 percent of the stops or search resulting in an arrest, according to the report. The full report is available, here.2) Public transportation grantThe Court approved a grant application to the Texas Department of Transportation for $260,860 in funding to assist with county transportation programs. The application also proposes a county match of $155,977.In fiscal year 2017, Fort Bend County completed over 381,000 trips in its service area, enhancing residents’ quality of life, reducing emissions and improving mobility by alleviating congestion, according to the application.3) System improvementsThe County approved a $132,804 agreement with MUD 19 and a $318,304 agreement with the city of Arcola to use for water and wastewater system improvements, respectively.The projects are funded by the Community Development Block Grant and were identified as part of the fiscal year 2017 Consolidated Annual Action Plan approved by the County July 25, 2017, according to meeting documents.
