Board approves zoning change at FISD special meeting

The Friendswood ISD approved boundary updates that will affect four schools in the district.

The board approved Zoning Option 1C at a Feb. 26 special meeting. The changes will take effect in the 2018-19 school year and affect Cline and Westwood elementaries and Windsong and Bales intermediates.

Members of the boundary committee spoke at the meeting last night. According to parent and committee member Kristin Hamon, parents are understanding about the boundary changes.

"It's not that they’re thrilled that their child might have to be moved, but there is an understanding that they know why it has to be done,” Hamon said.

Parents can learn where they are zoned with this interactive map created by the district.
