Lake Travis ISD will have three contested school board races on May 5, with multiple candidates filing to run in the election.

According to information from district spokesperson Marco Alvarado, six candidates filed for places 1 and 2 before the close of the filing period on Feb. 16. In Place 1, incumbent trustee Guy Clayton will face challenger David Lovelace. In Place 2, Daniel Gonzalez, Jan Moreland, Adrienne Trigg and Lauren White are running for election. Place 2 incumbent Lisa Johnson is not running for re-election.

In the special election to fill the final year of Alex Alexander’s term in Place 3, Melissa Lovelace, Jessica Putonti, Kris Robinson and Donald Scott II have filed for the position as of the morning of Feb. 20, Alvarado said. The candidate filing period for the special election is open until March 5.

Alexander announced his resignation from the board on Feb. 9 in order to serve as senior pastor of the Lawrence Free Methodist Church in Lawrence, Kansas.
