The candidate filing period for a place on the May 5 ballot closed Feb. 16. As of Feb. 19 one race in Oak Ridge North remains unopposed, while the races for the positions of mayor and Place 3 each have two candidates, according to City Secretary Elizabeth Harrell.

Incumbent Jim Kuykendall filed for re-election and will be facing challenger Dan Broyles for the position of Mayor. Broyles ran against Michelle Cassio for Place 4 in 2017.

Place 3 Incumbent Alex Jones will be facing challenger Martha Stedifor, while Place 1, held by Paul Bond, remains uncontested.

Although the formal filing deadline closed Friday, candidates can write-in candidacy until Feb. 20, and candidates may withdraw from the ballot through Feb. 23.

The last day to register to vote for the May 5 election is April 5, with the early voting period running April 23-May 1. The last day to apply for ballot by mail is April 24.
