Mayor Todd Kana and council members Brenda Hoppe and Jonny Williams have all filed for re-election in the city of Magnolia, according to the city's website. Hoppe holds Position 4, and Williams serves in Position 5.
Council members Mark Stoll and Derek Townsend have also filed for re-election to Tomball City Council in positions 2 and 4, respectively, according to candidate filing information.
Council members in Tomball are elected to serve three-year terms, and council members in Magnolia serve two-year terms.
Two positions on the Magnolia ISD board of trustees are also up for election in May. Travis Moffatt and Chuck Adcox have filed for re-election to positions 6 and 7, respectively, Superintendent Secretary Chris Hinkelman said. As this race is uncontested, the board of trustees will vote to cancel its May 5 election at its March 5 meeting, she said. Trustees serve three-year terms.
Although the formal filing deadline closed Friday, candidates can declare write-in candidacy until Tuesday, Feb. 20. Tomball City Secretary Doris Speer said candidates may withdrawal from the race until Friday, Feb. 23.
Early voting for the May 5 election is held April 23-May 1.
