Council Member Jean Hennagin has filed to run for mayor in the city of Lakeway, according to online city election records. "I’d been thinking about running for some time but wanted to feel absolute in my commitment," Hennagin said in a news release Friday afternoon announcing the campaign. "My goal is to help the residents of Lakeway be more engaged and informed in city decisions, programs and policies. Over the past two years, Current Mayor Joe Bain announced Friday on his blog he would not be running again. "After spending nearly two decades serving the City of Lakeway in various commissions, committees, city council and as mayor, I have decided to retire from political office at the end of my term in May," he wrote. "It has been my honor to serve during his time of unprecedented growth." As of the Friday deadline, a total of six people filed applications to run for one of two open council seats. Incumbent Keith Trecker and Lakeway Charter Review Committee Chair Steve Smith submitted applications earlier in the open application period. They are now joined by Christopher Forton, Judy Holloway, Louis Mastrangelo and Tammy Stanley.
