In July, the Texas Water Development Board committed to giving $213 million to the Alliance Regional Water Authority—formerly the Hays Caldwell Public Utility Agency—to supply up to 27 million gallons of water per day to high-growth areas along the I-35 corridor between Austin and San Antonio by 2023. In August, the city of Buda agreed to pay $10.86 million of the total project cost, Kyle $60.12 million, San Marcos $76.52 million and the Canyon Regional Water Authority $65.92 million.

The Alliance Water Board approved the construction contract on Nov. 29.
What’s next
Graham Moore, executive director of Alliance Regional Water Authority, said construction on the pipeline to connect Kyle to Buda will start by the end of January.
