The city of New Braunfels held an informational meeting and ground breaking ceremony for the reconstruction and drainage improvement project on Alves Lane that will be complete in spring 2020.

The $10.2 million project is being funded by $8.5 million from the 2013 city bond program for drainage and street improvements, and New Braunfels Utilities is contributing $1.7 million. Reconstruction includes a three-lane roadway with sidewalks on both sides of the road to relieve traffic congestion on Hwy. 46. The project includes utility and drainage work.

“NBU continues to be a great partner, and we are excited to begin the drainage, roadway and utility infrastructure upgrades that will be constructed with this project,” Assistant City Manager Bryan Woods said. “Our partnership with NBU on these joint projects has significantly benefited the process and resulted in substantial savings for the citizens of New Braunfels and NBU’s ratepayers.”
