The McKinney Economic Development Corp. updated its strategic plan in May. A few months later in August, in partnership with the city of McKinney, the MEDC offered a tax abatement to Independent Bank, which is planning to build a $52 million headquarters in McKinney.
The latest
MEDC also rebranded Southgate in August, formerly called Gateway, located at the northeast corner of US 75 and SH 121. The city also partnered with developer KDC in hopes to attract mid- to large-size companies.
What’s next
More announcements surrounding Southgate are anticipated to come in 2018. Independent Bank plans to begin construction on its headquarters before May 1.
