During the Dec. 4 Town Council meeting, Parks and Recreation Director Chuck Jennings asked Flower Mound Town Council for recommendations related to adding LED lighting at The Hound Mound Dog Park. Jennings said the town was offered a donation of $11,000 by Rob and Karen Rawson in honor of their son, Andrew, who passed away a year ago. The Rawsons would like the money to be used toward the purchase and installation of 10 LED solar powered pole lights. “It would be great to add some additional lighting so that people can safely unleash and leash their dogs,” Jennings said. “And once they do and they’re walking back to their car or driving away from the parking lot they’ll be able to see better.” Jennings said the lights are not intended to extend park hours. Council recommended staff to go back and see about adding more enhancements. “I’m thinking if we are going to do this the generosity of the Rawson family is great but I think we probably might need to put a couple of dollars ourselves in this and do it right the first time,” Council Member Claudio Forest said.
